WEST, Texas — Friday at 10 a.m., the Odessa Police Department, Midland PD, Ector County Sheriff's Office, Midland County Sheriff's Office, Department of Public Safety, Lubbock PD and several other local agencies will hold a memorial service to honor fellow officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. 

The service will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 6801 East Highway 80, Odessa. 

The OPD will conduct a brief memorial service for all of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year in Texas.

The OPD Honor Guard is currently in Washington D.C. for National Police Week, set aside to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement killed in the line of duty. 

The Honor Guard is part of the cordon for President Trump, as he speaks today during the 38th Annual National Peace Officer Memorial Service.

The public is encouraged to replace their porch lights with blue bulbs during National Police Week.
