A man was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene on Saturday morning.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — The Pflugerville Police Department has arrested and charged two men in connection with a fatal shooting that happened on Saturday morning.

The City of Pflugerville said police responded to a shots-fired call at the corner of Walnut Street and Third Street in Pflugerville around 10:40 a.m.

A man was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. A dead dog was also found at the scene.

On Monday, police said Thomas Jackert, 41, was arrested and charged with deadly conduct, a third-degree felony, after he allegedly fired a weapon recklessly, killing John Peason, 38, during a dispute.

Police said the shooting happened outside Jackert's home.

Joshua Dry, 36, was also taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly holding both Jackert and his dog at gunpoint.

“The quick resolution of this case is due to the diligence and teamwork of the officers in our Patrol and Criminal Investigation divisions who responded swiftly, secured the scene and conducted excellent police work,” said Police Chief Jason O’Malley. “I send my condolences to Mr. Pearson's family and want to reassure the community that we have an outstanding team of officers dedicated to solving crimes and keeping Pflugerville safe.”

Police believe all people involved are accounted for and were known to each other.
