Man charged with intoxication manslaughter in deadly motorcycle crash

The driver lost control of the motorcycle before the second driver ran over them.

ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Police Department have arrested one man in connection with a deadly motorcycle crash on Highway 80 just west of 8th Street. 

OPD responded to the 2400 block of East 2nd Street in reference to the crash just before 2 a.m. on September 25.

Investigators determined Nau Ulate, 32, had been driving eastbound on 2nd Street in a red Yamaha motorcycle. Ulate was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle, before lying down.

Edgar Jesus Ibarra, 23, was driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on 2nd Street. Police say he ran over Ulate.

Ulate was pronounced dead at the scene and the family has been notified.

Investigators determined Ibarra was intoxicated at the time of the crash and charged him with intoxication manslaughter. He has been transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
