MIDLAND- Even with the best intentions, keeping up with a New Year's resolution can be tough, especially if you are trying too hard or have unrealistic expectations.
"Nothing is going to happen in one week, but what will happen you will probably notice more energy," said Joe Juarez, sales manager and trainer at Gold's Gym.
In order to keep from losing steam, watch for workout pit falls.
"Maybe they're overdoing it, maybe they don't have too much knowledge on how to work out, and so they come in and do just about everything they can think of," said Juarez, who encourages everyone to figure out a plan but to keep it simple.
Juarez recommends realistic goals is key.
"If you are looking to lose say maybe forty pounds in three months, that probably isn't going to happen so you need to set your goals small, because if you don't, you are setting yourself up for disappointment," he said.
So to keep that New Year's resolution momentum from fading, don't be too hard on yourself if the only thing you've dropped since January 1st is sweat.
"It's never too late, no matter how young or how old you are, how you used to look, or how you look now. It's just never too late," said Juarez.
