Greater West Texas Blues Society Open Blues Jam partners up with Destination Midland

The event takes place every 4th Thursday of the month and helps spread the words of blues music.

MIDLAND, Texas — The Greater West Texas Blues Society held its Open Blues Jam event on May 25.

The organization partnered up with Destination Midland for the second year in a row. Musicians from all over the Permian Basin were able to hop up on stage and jam out. The purpose of the event is to help spread the words of blues music and aspiring artists.

"As soon as we walked in we sign up on the list and they're like alright Leon Carrasco, you're on the stage next," said 17-year-old artist Leon Carrasco. "And I was like okay whatever so we get on stage and do our song and man that's where it started. We just been coming ever since. There's nothing better playing for a crowd of people and that's the most funnest thing I could do."

The event will be happening every 4th Thursday of the month. Last month, they had 26 different musicians performing during their event.
