Hobbs Man Behind Bars After Police Chase in Hobbs

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - A Hobbs man is in the slammer after taking police on a wild ride early Thursday morning.

Hobbs Police say it all started when they found Louis Ellis behind the wheel of a stolen Ford F-250 truck.

When officers tried to pull over Ellis, he sped off, hitting several parked cars, traffic signs, and buildings.

Then, he finally hit a tree, and came to a stop at the Hobbs Apartment Complex.

But it still wasn't over, Ellis took off on foot, police had to use a tazer gun to take him down.

Police found that he had 10-thousand dollars worth of jewelry in his possession.

Police say earlier that night he used a rock to break into a local jewelry shop.
