George W. Bush Childhood Home holding 'Living History' summer camp

Children will get to hear from local experts about the history of West Texas.

MIDLAND, Texas — The George W. Bush Childhood Home and the Midland Texas Historical Society have partnered with the You ASKED for it Character Programs and Weddings for the West Texas Living History Camp.

The camp, which will run 8 a.m. to noon from June 10 through June 14, is open to children ages eight through 12. It will take place at the Midland Texas Historical Society building and the cost per child is only $25.

Through the course of the camp, students will get to learn about oil field history, native artifacts, the Spanish Involvement with Texas, the Alamo and much more. There will also be arts and crafts, story time, food and more.

In addition, on Friday parents will be able to attend a final program to see all the things the children have learned during the camp.

The goal of the camp is to get children engaged and interested in history.
