MIDLAND, Texas — If you're hoping to work off some calories before you fill up on Thanksgiving goodies, you can also benefit a good cause by participating in the Turkey Trot.

The Midland County Greater Works hosts the annual run to raise money for its mission. The organization delivers 20-40 pounds of food to homes of the elderly and disabled each year.

Greater Works says there is always a need in the community, but without participants and volunteers the need would not be met.

"It's the community that builds this, that feeds their own people that are poor and having a hard time, said Lisa Beauchamp with Midland County Greater Works.

The run will take place at Memorial Stadium in Midland on Thanksgiving Day (November 28). You can participate in a 10K, 5K or a fun run for the children.

The first race will start at 8 a.m. To register for the run you can click here.
