Sammi Steele, born and raised in Golden, Colorado, joined the NewsWest 9 team in June of 2019.

She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in broadcast journalism.

During all four years of college, Sammi worked as a reporter and anchor for OU Nightly, OU’s student-led newscast.

Sammi also served as an ambassador for Gaylord College and was the president of Oklahoma College Broadcasters Club.

Last summer, Sammi interned at ABC News in New York City. She served as either a production assistant or digital news assistant for World News Tonight with David Muir.

She also worked alongside meteorologist Ginger Zee and the rest of the Good Morning America weather team to find and verify weather-related material.

Before the Big Apple, Sammi interned for the CBS affiliate, KWTV, in Oklahoma City.

While in her native state of Colorado, Sammi worked for Talk to the Camera, Kaiser Permanente, the Colorado GOP and the Colorado Children’s Chorale.

Sammi loves musical theatre, spicy food, skiing and hiking. She misses exploring the Rocky Mountains, but can’t wait to tell stories about the people of West Texas!

If you’d like Sammi to tell YOUR story, she can be reached by email, or through her Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts.
