Mason started at NewsWest 9 as a Digital Content Producer in February of 2021. He is originally from Magnolia, Texas.

He attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, for two years. While there, he played football and did freelance reporting work for the college's newspaper, the Purple and White.

He graduated from Sam Houston State University in December of 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in Multiplatform Journalism.

During his time at SHSU, Mason worked as a Campus News Editor and Editor-in-Chief for the student-run newspaper, The Houstonian. He also reported on the university's newscast, Channel 7 News, and spent some time as a DJ on its radio station, 90.5 The Kat.

He helped revive the university's Society of Professional Journalists chapter and served a semester as president of the chapter.

Mason enjoys mountain biking, playing guitar, finding new restaurants, and spending time with his wife and three pets when he's not working.

Mason is excited to immerse himself in West Texas culture and get further connected to the community.
