Anthony Franze is the Chief Meteorologist at NewsWest 9. He joined the StormTracker 9 Team in June 2018.
You can catch Anthony’s forecasts Monday through Friday at 4, 5, 6, and 10pm.
Anthony was born and raised in Texas and spent most of his childhood in Gunter, a small town about an hour drive north of Dallas.
Growing up, Anthony would always be checking the radar as storms moved through north Texas. He loved watching the two long-time local TV meteorologists, Steve LaNore & Alan Mitchell.
Anthony decided to pursue a career as a broadcast meteorologist, so he attended Valparaiso University and earned a B.S. in meteorology. While at Valpo, Anthony was a member and co-captain of the track team, running the 100, 200, and 4x400.
After college, Anthony landed a job at KECI in Missoula, Montana, as the weekend meteorologist. But when Texas came calling in 2018, it was time to head back home.
Today, Anthony enjoys spending time outside as much as he can, whether that be on the tennis court, basketball court, or hiking through West Texas’ state and national parks.
Anthony continues to be passionate about the weather, his job as a broadcast meteorologist, and he loves being involved in the West Texas community. So if you ever see him around, be sure to say hi!
