MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Petroleum Museum is holding its first Brown Bag Lunch and Lecture of 2019.
The event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on January 15, will feature Dr. Rebecca Babcock of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
During the lecture Dr. Babcock will discuss the findings of UTPB students for their project “Documenting Stories of Living in a Boom or Bust Economy”. The findings explain the nature of living in the oilfield area and the ups and downs that come with booms and busts in the business.
UTPB’s endeavor was supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and was headed by Dr. Babcock, the William and Ordelle Watts Professor of English and the Chair of the Department of Literature & Languages. The project also was a collaboration with Dr. Jason Lagapa, Sheena Stief, and Kristen Figgins, all fellow UTPB professors.
The Tuesday lecture is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch, although drinks and dessert will be provided.
