ANDREWS - An Andrews bus driver has been ticketed after an accident Monday that sent five people to the hospital.

The wreck happened near the corner of 4th and C Monday afternoon in Andrews. The bus ended up in the front yard of a home and hit a tree.

Andrews Police Chief Bud Jones says the bus driver may have missed a stop sign and crashed into a car.

Two children from the school bus were taken to Permian Regional Medical Center and received treatment for minor injuries. The hospital also treated two children and one adult who were injured in the other car.

One of the kids in the car was kept at the hospital overnight, but all five people have now been released.

The Andrews Superintendent tells NewsWest 9 this has been a wake-up call for the district which plans to take a closer look at the safety plan.
