ODESSA - The number of homeless families continues to increase in Odessa.

Odessa Links and the Odessa Homeless Coalition released numbers on Monday illustrating the growing problem.

They said more and more families are ending up on the street, citing a struggling economy and increasing apartment fees across the Basin.

More than five hundred families with children attending Ector County ISD schools are considered homeless.

That number is expected to rise throughout the year.
