Work to Begin Next Week on I-20 West of Odessa

From the Texas Department of Transportation:

PENWELL - Roadwork will get underway Monday, March 2, on a 6-mile stretch of Interstate 20 west of Odessa, according to a Texas Department of Transportation official.

"There will be times during construction when westbound and eastbound traffic will be restricted to one lane each direction for short distances," said Dan Dalager, the TxDOT engineer in charge of the project. "Drivers should slow down in those work zones."

The 6-mile area to be rebuilt is from just west of the truck weigh station near FM 1936 to just east of the intersection with FM 1053 west of Penwell. The final phase, resurfacing, should be finished by the end of August, said Dalager.

The contractor for the $5,552,733.04 project is Jones Bros. Dirt and Paving, Inc., of Odessa.

Motorists are urged to obey all warning signs and remember that state law doubles all traffic fines within a construction area or violations occurring when workers are present.
