New Fire Danger Signs Go Up in Lea County

LEA COUNTY - Lea County hopes some new roadside additions will snuff out fire danger.

The county just spent $5,600 on new signs featuring the beloved Smokey the Bear. They hope it'll help prevent major blazes from scorching the land.

The warnings will go up on some of the main roads to keep communities in-the-know about fire danger levels across the area.

Several fire districts in Lea County have already requested their share of the signs. It'll be up to those districts to determine and set the different levels for each city.
