According to Government statistics online, area schools will line up for more than 28 million dollars in 2009.

The following schools are just a few who will be receiving some of the stimulus money in 2009:

-Midland ISD (Just over 8.5 million dollars)
-Ector ISD (11 million dollars)
-Big Spring ISD (2.1 million dollars)
-Hobbs ISD (2.8 million dollars)
-Fort Stockton ISD (1.1 million dollars)
-Andrews ISD ($815,000)
-Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD (1.1 million dollars)

Midland ISD officials tell NewsWest 9, the money would go to improve education programs for low income students and create new science labs.

But there's one stipulation in the package, and that is the money would not be used for salary increases.

All these numbers are based on population and poverty rates, and the State and the U.S. Department of Education have the final say on these totals.
