MIDLAND - The investigation continues after Midland School officials find a gun on an elementary campus.
Details are limited, but what NewsWest 9 has learned that a primary grade student between kindergarten and third grade was caught with a gun at Santa Rita Elementary.
The gun was not loaded and had a trigger lock on it.
The gun was confiscated, and authorities were notified.
M.I.S.D. Officials say no students were ever in danger and letters were sent home to parents, letting them know what happened.
It is not known what type of gun it was or how and why the student took it to school in the first place.
According to M.I.S.D. Public Information Officer, Woodrow Bailey, it was more than likely a case of a young student, not knowing the consequences of taking a gun to school and violating the code of conduct.
NewsWest nine has learned that the student will face the appropriate disciplinary action.
