ANDREWS - One year after a Pecos High School swimmer and diver was impaled on a fence pole during a car wreck, that teen has won the regional diving competition in Andrews.

NewsWest 9 first told you about Hector Roman, Jr. last year when he crashed into a fence.

A one inch pole from the fence pierced Roman's chest, but after months of recovery, he returned to the diving board with the goal of making it to State.

Amazingly, he is headed to Austin after winning the diving finals in Andrews this weekend.
