MIDLAND - Texas electric rates are soaring faster than any other state in the country.

"I was in an accident on Jan. 7th driving an 18-wheeler and just went off the road," Surviving truck driver Bob Arnold, said.

For Bob Arnold, making out of this truck alive was a blessing, but now he's facing a different challenge.

"Bills keep on coming in still and I had no way of making them being out of work," Arnold said.

That's where Helping Hands of Midland stepped in.

"They were able to help me with my electric bill which is outrageous. That bill is $900 for this house alone," Arnold said.

Helping Hands of Midland says more and more people are asking for help.

"We help 10 - 15 families a week. It generally runs $5,000-6,000  a week," Mary Hardin of Helping Hands of Midland, said.
