Burglary Suspect Shot by Property Owner

LEA COUNTY - A burglary suspect has been shot in Lea County by a property owner. It happened in the 3600 East Alabama.

The Lea County Sheriff's Department says a property owner heard his dog barking Sunday night. The owner walked out of his house and saw a man walking away from his truck, which had been burglarized the night before.

The suspect had property in his hand including a gun. The property owner fired two rounds from a shotgun and the suspect fled on foot.

Authorities found a suspect Monday morning with shotgun wounds. His injuries were not life threatening.

No other information was released as Lea County authorities are still investigating.
