SEMINOLE - Several weeks ago, NewsWest 9 told you about a petition being passed around in Gaines County to legalize the sale of alcohol.

Now, a group of Church leaders and concerned neighbors are trying to put a stop to it.

This Sunday, the Seminole Ministers alliance will host a meeting offering information about what alcohol sales could mean for their county.

They're hoping city and county leaders will sit up and take notice.

15 Gaines County neighbors started the petition to legalize alcohol sales, including Seminole Mayor Wayne Mixon.

They think it will bring in new businesses and restaurants who offer alcoholic beverages.

The meeting will be held this Sunday afternoon at three.
