Hobbs Lawmaker Wants to Track Job Creation from Stimulus Money

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Jobseekers would have an easier time keeping track of where federal economic stimulus money is creating jobs thanks to a proposal from Representative Harry Teague.

The New Mexico Democrat's amendment was passed today in the U.S. House in an 819-billion-dollar American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan package to stimulate the economy.

The package would provide more than one billion dollars for projects and financial relief to New Mexico in its current form. The vote sends the measure to the Senate.

Teague's amendment would require a federal Web site dedicated to the recovery to include information and links to jobs created by the plan at federal, state and local agencies and private firms. It is the freshman lawmaker's first amendment to pass the House.
