PECOS-Pecos Police and Midland DPS raided, with warrant in hand, a phone sweepstakes and internet center in the 200 block of 2nd Street on Wednesday. Police arrested 64-year-old Leonard Nathan, who was managing the facility on charges of organized crime and possession of gambling paraphenilia.
"It must have been getting pretty popular for people to start complaining," Chief Clay McKinney, with the Pecos Police Deparment, said.
Police seized 37 computers, banking books, and a small amount of marijuana.
"I think they were just a regular Dell computer with a monitor." McKinney said.
People weren't just surfing online. The acronym Call America Sweepstakes Headquarters, spells out CASH and Police Chief McKinney says that is exactly what people were trying to win.
"The investigator told me today that one person received an 800 dollar pay out." he said.
Neighbors say the parking lot filled up on weekends, and stayed full during the day.
Police say more arrests may follow.
"The investigator has got a lot more work to do, this is just the start of it." McKinney said.
