AUSTIN (AP) - U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison is meeting with more than 300 supporters at a private strategy session for her 2010 campaign for Texas governor.

Hutchison said she is challenging Gov. Rick Perry in next year's Republican primary and that Saturday's meeting is the first for her statewide campaign organization. Members of Congress, local politicians and big-name business people attended the gathering at an Austin hotel.

Later in the day, Perry is working to rally his base of social conservative supporters with a speech at an anti-abortion rally at the Capitol.

Hutchison has said she favors some abortion rights, but believes in abortion restrictions and reducing the number of abortions.
