Arrest Made in Connection to a Weekend House Fire in Hobbs

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - The Lea County Sheriff's Department has made an arrest in a housefire over the weekend that killed one man and three family pets.

38-year-old Kay Willett has been charged with murder and aggravated arson.

Investigators say she intentionally started the fire that completey destroyed a mobile home killing 36-year old Tim Ward.

The fire broke out early Saturday morning on Baregrass Lane.

By the time firefighters got there, the home was fully engulfed.

After the fire was out, firefighters found Ward's body inside.

An autopsy showed Ward died of smoke inhalation.

Willett remains behind bars on a one million dollar bond.
