Big Spring ISD to Name New Superintendent

BIG SPRING - The Big Spring Independent School District is expected to name a new superintendent early in the upcoming week. That's according to the Big Spring Herald.

Trustees spent the past week interviewing candidates and narrowing down the field to semi-finalists. 34 people were interviewed for the job.

The new superintendent will likely be named at a special school board meeting Tuesday at 6:00p.m.

Michael Stevens has been serving as interim superintendent ever since the district and Michael Downes parted ways last summer.

Downes gave up his teaching license to the state after allegations surfaced that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student at a panhandle school district.
