GAINES COUNTY - It's been a record-breaking year at the Gaines County Law Enforcement Center.

They had more bookings than ever before, up about one hundred from 2007.

Last year, authorities worked 916 bookings.

Judge Keyes tells NewsWest 9, this just emphasizes their need for a new facility.

The current jail holds about 25, but it's been so overcrowded officials are constantly moving inmates to jails in neighboring counties costing taxpayers, big time.

Plans are underway for a 96-bunk facility north of Seminole.

Voters will make that decision during the May election.
