A Stanton man will be going to prison for lying to get temporary work visas.

52-year-old David Wayne Decker was sentenced to one year and a day in prison on Thursday in Midland.

Officials say Decker and his wife turned in false forms and lied about needing the work visas to hire temporary workers from Mexico for their landscaping business and golf course in Martin County.

The Deckers then sold those visas to other area employers and workers from Mexico.

Nancy Decker has already been sentenced to three years on probation.
