Big Spring School Board to Interview Superintendent Candidates

BIG SPRING - Big Spring ISD is getting closer to finding a new superintendent. The school board has scheduled three days of first-round interviews with candidates starting Monday.

Doctor Michael Stevens has been interim superintendent for the district since the district parted ways with Michael Downes last year.

Downes recently gave up his teaching license after allegations surfaced that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student when he was a teacher in the panhandle.

The board should have some semi-finalists narrowed down by the middle of next week.
