HOWARD COUNTY - New details on one of the most bizarre shootings Howard County authorities have ever investigated.

The Medical Examiners Office in Lubbock says the shooting last month which left one Big Spring man dead has been ruled a suicide.

That's the word from the local paper as deputies with the county continue to investigate the details.

Deputies say 61-year-old Billie Odell Rawls shot and killed himself, right in front of them, after they showed up with a warrant.

In December, family members told NewsWest 9 Rawls would never shoot himself and claimed authorities are covering up the truth.

NewsWest 9 has learned the Texas Rangers are independently investigating the shooting, but at this point, there's no word on why the man may have committed suicide.
