MCCAMEY - A Wyoming oil exploration company is pulling the plug on a McCamey tunneling project.
Rock Well Petroleum bought 10,000 acres of mineral rights last February on the old McCamey field when oil prices were inching past one hundred dollars per barrel.
The project would have drilled a tunnel and used gravity to get to the millions of barrels of oil below the surface that had once been unreachable.
McCamey Mayor Sherry Phillips says she was given no explanation for the cancelled project.
Rock Well Petroleum Representatives did not return calls for comment on Tuesday night.
