DALLAS (AP) - A polygamist group is taking new aim at a state report alleging widespread abuse of children at a Texas ranch raided by authorities last spring.

The Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado called the report "as false and fraudulent as the original hoax telephone call" in a seven-page response Saturday to the findings this week by Texas child welfare officials.

The letter blasts Child Protective Services for having "no credibility" and says the agency "manufactured" 262 cases of child abuse.

The state report issued Tuesday alleged that nearly two-thirds of the families living at the ranch were abused or neglected. State officials said Saturday they stand by their findings.

An abuse hotline phone call that initiated the April raid is being investigated as a hoax.
