MIDLAND - Many West Texans are trying to finish up all that last minute shopping, but Christmas isn't the only religious celebration this week.
Sunday marked the first night of Hanukkah.
Midland resident Emily Makuch allowed NewsWest 9 camera's roll at her home as her family celebrated the Jewish Holiday.
Hanukkah is an eight day celebration commemorating the Jewish victory over Syrian oppressors.
According to Jewish teachings, Hanukkah recalls the one-day's worth of oil that miraculously lasted for eight days.
The Makuch family in Midland lit their Menorah, played with a Dradle, and of course, opened gifts for the first night.
Makuch says she hopes West Texans will remember the other important holidays going on this Decemeber.
