MIDLAND - Tall city residents will notice a few changes the next time they have to go to the emergency room.
Hospital officals say starting this January, patients who come to the Emergency Room at Midland Memorial Hospital will be placed in one of two groups, emergency and non-emergency.
If it's deemed an emergency, patients will be billed later, but if its a non-emergency, like a cough or cold, then patients will have to pay up-front.
The move comes after doctors and nurses have seen more and more people coming to the emergency room with non-emergency illnesses.
They say the goal is to educate the public about there different options for treating illnesses.
