MIDLAND - After last week's discovery of dead fish at Odessa's McKinney Park, Midland City officials decided to hold off stocking their ponds.
The city will be stocking the two ponds in January.
Trout are normally added in December, but just like the fishing pond in McKinney Park, golden algae turned up at Beal Park forcing the delay.
The Beal Park fishing pond is being treated and will be tested again in a few weeks.
Tests did not show golden algae in the pond at C.J. Kelley Park, but the city is holding off stocking that pond until January as well.
