LOVINGTON, NEW MEXICO - Residents in Lovington, New Mexico are back home after a big grassfire forced them out on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities say the fire broke out Sunday morning about 10 miles west of Lovington.
High winds fueled the fire which forced firefighters to evacuate the southwest corner of Lovington.
In addition, they also blocked off parts of Highway 82 for several hours.
Firefighters say the blaze has been contained, but they're still trying to determine exactly how it started.
At least 9,000 acres burned.
