MIDLAND - The City of Midland is one step closer to naming a new police chief.
On Thursday, five candidates for the job met with three separate interview panels. The panels included people from agencies that work with the city, private citizens and city staff. Feedback from the panels was forwarded to the city manager.
The finalists are:
Bobby Griffin of Canyon, Texas
Price Robinson, current interim chief of Midland
Todd Miller of Terrell, Texas
Mark Chaney of Arlington, Texas
Mike Corely of Richardson, Texas
City Manager Courtney Sharp is meeting with the candidates one-on-one Friday. He expects to reach a decision early next week.
The hiring of the new chief must be approved by the city council.
