MARTIN COUNTY- The body of a missing Martin County man has been located and now authorities have arrested a Midland man they say is responsible for his murder.
The body of 50-year-old Jerry Don McIntyre was found and 21-year-old Brian Carlson is behind bars in Martin County facing murder charges.
The whole investigation started when McIntyre's sister contacted Martin County Sheriff's office saying she had not heard from her brother since Thanksgiving. The case had some leads when McIntyre's car was found in Midland on Thursday.
From there Midland Police and Texas Rangers decided to question Brian Carlson where he lead police to a pasture where the body was found.
"When the suspect brought us out to the scene where the body was dumped, it was just in the pasture you can see behind us, he had no attempt of covering the body or nothing, it was just out here on top of the ground," Martin County Sheriff Randy Cozart, said.
Carlson told Sheriff Cozart in his statement that the murder did not happen where the body was placed, but at a barn north of the field.
The incident is still under investigation, but authorities say McIntyre did appear to have a fatal gun shot wound.
At this time, the motive is unknown but officers say the two man knew each other.
Carlson's bond has been set at one million dollars.
McIntyre's body has been sent to Lubbock for an autopsy.
