MIDLAND - Volunteers came out in droves to pack up boxes for soldiers.

A crowd of about 30 gathered at the First Presbyterian Church in Midland on Wednesday  afternoon.

They packed up boxes with all the essentials, paper towels, socks, snacks, and calling cards.

It's part of the Christmas for our Troops project, which is in its fifth year.

The Chairman of the program says the soldiers can use the support all year round.

The boxes will go to more than 13 hundred troops from around the Permian Basin serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
