MIDLAND - A new Midland restaurant is earning some early buzz, but business seems to be so good, the owners are already struggling to keep up with the demand.
Kelvie Cleverdon has plenty of time on Thanksgiving Day to eat Turkey, Stuffing, and all that. On Wednesday, she wanted something a little different.
"They've got these fancy chefs with the big knives, and of course, the sushi chef is doing fantastic," Cleverdon explained.
She and her husband Tim decided to try the Bushido Japanese Sushi Bar and Steak House in northwest Midland, and they aren't the only ones.
"It's just fabulous," Cleverdon added.
It just opened Saturday, and if there's such a thing as business being too good, that might be on the menu.
"Yeah, I'm definately going to have to expand the bar, it's too small," Owner James Calvert, explained. "I knew we had something good, but I didn't know this was going to be a big, big hit."
And who can blame him? In West Texas, who would have thought Sushi would be on anyone's plate around Thanksgiving?
"Anything from shrimp to something exotic like sea bass," Calvert said. "And it goes, everything goes."
Are people just curious, or can raw fish find fans in the Basin? Either way, Calvert's is already thinking of expanding.
"It's a brand new place, and I'm already going to have to tear it out and remodel it," Calvert added.
