FM 1776 Between Monahans and Coyanosa Will Be Closed for Several Months

A popular short cut for West Texas drivers will be shut down for several months.

FM 1776 between Monahans and Coyanosa will be closed until further notice while repairs are made to the Pecos River Bridge.

That means you'll be detoured.

The route is a popular shortcut between Presidio, Marfa, and Alpine, and the Odessa-Midland area.

Those drivers should detour through Fort Stockton using Highway 18, or Pecos using 285.

The Texas Department of Transportation has been allowing one-way traffic while half of the bridge was being torn down or replaced, but the engineer has now order it completely closed because that traffic was compromising the bridge supports on the remaining half.

The highway will be closed for several months, until the new bridge is completed.
