PERMIAN BASIN - Another scam you need to watch out for is hitting mailboxes.

Checks that look real claim you've won everthing from $2,000 to $4,000.

They claim to be from big name retailers or groups like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Reader's Digest, and Publisher's Clearing House.

The Better Business Bureau says there's a catch, the letter asks the winner to call an account rep to verify the check, cash it at your bank, then wire them money to pay taxes and processing fees in canada.

The checks are fake, and you end up losing money.
