Routine Traffic Stop Turns into Drug Bust, Suspects At-Large

PECOS COUNTY - A routine traffic stop north of Fort Stockton takes hundreds of pounds of pot off the streets.

It happened over the weekend when DPS troopers pulled over an SUV, on Highway 285.

As the trooper approached the SUV, the male suspect drove about a quarter of a mile, then he and his passenger bailed out and ran.

Inside the SUV was 309 pounds of pot with a street value of more than $300,000.

The two suspects described as Hispanic males in their 20's, and are still at large.

The SUV was a rental out of Houston, and was reported stolen.
