ODESSA - An Odessa family is mourning the death of an Ector County inmate.

41-year old Jessie Bess died Tuesday morning after suffering a seizure at the Ector County Detention Center.

An ambulance was called to the jail, but Bass was pronounced dead within 45 minutes.

His body has been sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy.

"All I wanted was a phone call to tell me my baby was dead.  I was not notified till after 2:00p.m. by the coroners office. I was totally alone and they come to my house and just announce my baby was dead.  I went into hysterics, I started screaming," Anita Jones, Mother of the Jessie Bass, said.

Bass was being held on burglary charges, stemming from a Halloween dispute with his live-in girlfriend.

The last time an inmate died at the Detention Center was back in 2003.
