MIDLAND - The Tall City is looking for ways to keep pets out of the pound.

On Tuesday, the City Council will look at amending an ordinance that already requires pet owners to show proof of current vaccinations when claiming a pet at the pound.

The Council may decide to also ask pet owners to show proof that their pets have been micro-chipped before they can claim them.

The fee for micro-chipping is 15 dollars and folks with animal services say if more pets are micro-chipped officers could return them to their owners before they're taken to the pound.
