Lovington Man Found Guilty of Murder

CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A 21-year-old Lovington man could face life in prison after being convicted in the slaying of a convenience store clerk last year.

Jonathan Silva cried yesterday as state District Judge Don Maddox read the jury's verdicts of guilty of felony murder, attempted armed robbery, tampering with evidence and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  No sentencing date has been set.

The charges came in the death of 54-year-old clerk Virginia Land, who was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at the Lovington store in November 2007.
