ECISD Offering Flu Mist to Children

ODESSA - The Ector County ISD is making sure students don't get sick during this flu season.

Parents have always had the option of getting their kids vaccinated at school, but this year they have a choice - a shot or a mist.

The flu mist has been around for a couple of years, but this is the first time the school district  is offering the option to its students.

It's all part of a pilot study with the Ector County Health Department to see how kids react to the mist. They will be monitoring how long it takes to administrate it and how effective it is.

Experts say the mist is more effective than the shot, but it's not for everyone. Children who suffer from heart disease, lung disease or asthma should not get the mist.
