MIDLAND - A second and final public discussion on the proposed jail expansion in Midland County was canceled on Thursday night because no one showed up.
Sheriff Gary Painter hopes that's a good sign that voters will approve it.
The 22 million dollar project would add 330 new beds.
Painter says they've done all they can to streamline the facility.
A no vote however could prove costly because of inmate transfers.
It would also mean another bond issue in the future with higher construction costs.
The jail facility would sit on about six acres next to the existing jail.
