SEMINOLE - Police in Seminole are searching for clues after residents found numerous political signs vandalized all over town. However, they all have one thing in common: All the signs were for John McCain.

Members of the Gaines County Republican Party told NewsWest 9 more than 20 McCain-Palin signs and banners were vandalized last weekend. Police are continuing an investigation to figure out who and how many people are involved.

Michel Powers, Chairman for the local Republican Party, sent us photos of their banners which appear as if someone spray painted "Obama" all over the front. About three of the banners were vandalized. Writing could also be found on the backs, which has "Please we need change" and "Change America Obama" spray painted on them.
It's not just the banners. McCain signs in residents' yards were also spray-painted. Powers said the Republican party is not blaming local Democrats for the damage. They said they do not know who vandalized the signs.

Local residents paid for many of these signs. As of Thursday, most of the damaged ones have been replaced, and police continue their investigation.
